Why being an au pair is worth it…

My beautiful ninos, Victor and Edgar

I just got back from holiday and hadn’t seen my ninos for about 11 days. Before I left, I was so ready to go. I was tired, annoyed, and ready for a break. However, a few days into holiday I realized how much I thought about them and told stories about them. Suddenly, it occurred to me. These little boys who absolutely drive me insane sometimes have stolen my heart. I mean, of course I know I love them but I was genuinely looking forward to seeing their adorable little faces again. Usually I dread the days I am with them all day (this sounds horrible I know but c’mon entertaining two kids isnt easy) but today I am so happy to hang out with them. Yes, I do realize this “honeymoon phase” will fade (and quickly I am sure) but I am going to soak it all in for now.

Going on holiday was so nice and I absolutely love traveling, but it also made me realize how much I really do love my life here. I started to miss the routine of  it all and the people I have in my life now. I can’t wait for my next adventure but until then I am just going to enjoy what I have.

Stop and appreciate what you have today. Look at what you have with wider eyes, maybe with more compassion and more gratitude for the things that you do have and not the things you don’t have. -Michael Imperioli

On that note, stay tuned for upcoming posts on my trip to Italy and exploring France this week.
